Laboratory Sample Preparation Technician

The Position:
Reporting to the Chief Chemist, the successful candidate will undertake a variety of duties in sample preparation.
The role will involve a certain amount of manual handling.
You will work with our team of technicians to Lisheen SHE standards.
This position is for a 6 month period.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain the safety, health and environmental standards in compliance with the systems adopted in the Company.
• Adherence to procedures.
• Registration and recording of sample data
• Sample preparation (milling & grinding of samples)
• Packaging of samples
• Troubleshoot essential sample preparation equipment.

The Candidate:
The candidate for the role would ideally be qualified to diploma / certificate in chemistry or a closely related subject. An equivalent combination of education and experience would also be considered. Previous experience in a chemical laboratory or a production environment would be a distinct advantage.

Ideally the candidate will be familiar with some sample preparation techniques, however appropriate training will be provided as required.
The candidate must be computer literate - Windows based computing, in particular MS Excel for data recording.
