Assistant Environmental Scientist

Position
[Company] currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Environmental Scientist based in our Edinburgh office.

The main responsibilities are:
Assisting with the survey and monitoring functions as required and directed. Preparation and maintenance of survey equipment.

Other responsibilities include:
• Fieldwork as directed on an agreed basis, to ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism.
• To maintain and develop skills across various offshore and onshore disciplines.
• Preparation and maintenance of survey equipment.
• Assisting in the preparation of various reports and tenders.
• Assisting and training in the statistical analysis of data.
• Assistance with enquiry/project management functions for work/tasks required by the Company.
• Assisting with biological sample processing as required.
• Maintenance of the Quality System as relevant to survey and monitoring.
• Carrying out the main duties of the post with minimum supervision.
• Provide support for general house-keeping/subcontracting requirements of the laboratories (biology and chemistry) as required or directed.
• Ordering general equipment and supplies as required or directed.
• Other tasks for which deemed competent as assigned by Project Manager or Senior Management.

Position requirements
The successful candidate must have a degree (or equivalent) in a marine science. They must also be computer literate, have good oral and written communication skills, excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills.
