Job Description Summary

  • The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.
  • Work with or in lieu of the dispatcher to schedule projects, manpower and equipment.
  • Work with or in lieu of the dispatcher to schedule equipment movement and transport schedules.
  • Interface daily with job foremen to ascertain their needs, problems and job progress.
  • Make sure that foremen have the time cards for their crew turned in on a timely basis and that coding if correct, and the foremen have signed the cards.
  • Check daily cost sheets for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget, find out why and report to management.
  • Prior to job startup, review with the job foreman the project plans, specifications and review the project startup list to ensure that each item is complete, (i.e. sig line has been contracted.)
  • Assist Estimating by providing feedback on job progress as opposed to as estimated.
  • Assist Estimating as available by performing field measurements determining sources.
  • Check that foremen’s job quantities are correct and submitted to Estimating.
  • Maintain, in conjunction with plant operators, adequate gravel stockpiles are available for projects when necessary.
  • Maintain, in conjunction with plant operators, adequate oil supplies and fuels to meet project needs.
  • Review hot plant reports, crusher reports, job reports, etc. daily.
  • Anticipate manpower needs and hire accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate equipment needs, locate and arrange transport for equipment in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, material deliveries both for outside sales and company projects.
  • Perform checks in trucks and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness and working order.
  • Obtain estimated pricing and a Purchase Order prior to purchasing materials.
  • Coordinate with Estimating to achieve maximum equipment utilization.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Work Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be willing to work early mornings and weekends when necessary.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
  • Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Previous related experience in construction field is preferred.
