Utility Miner / Laborer

• The [Company] currently has a need for a Utility Miner / Laborer – Underground Mine at the Columbus Limestone Facility in Grove City, Ohio.

Summary

• Individual shall perform various duties around the facility which include general laboring, equipment operation and plant maintenance. This position requires the individual to work in an underground mine environment continuously.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be willing to work daily in an underground mining environment.
• Assist the mine foreperson and mine engineer with the daily operations and upkeep of the mine.
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to; Frontend Loader and skid steer loader.
• Willingness to learn or ability to safely and efficiently operate mining machinery, including but not limited to; drill jumbo, roof bolter, and scaler.
• Must have mechanical aptitude including electrical & hydraulic system.
• Other miscellaneous duties include but not limited to; general labor, shoveling, performing necessary equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and/or crew members as needed.
• May perform welding and fabrication duties as required.
• Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
• Ability to follow directions.
• General understanding of OSHA & MSHA regulations.

• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Report to the assigned job ready to begin work at the designated start time.

• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas.  Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
