Our client is an Australian gold producer situated in the Goldfields region of Western Australia.  They have mineral resources reaching close to 10 million ounces of gold with ore reserves in excess of 2 million ounces.  They have aggressive plans in place that aim to significantly increase production levels throughout 2012.  Their vision is to continue to grow the company through joint venture agreements, acquisitions and targeted exploration.

As the Geotechnical Superintendent you will apply your expert engineering knowledge to impact the optimisation of the Group’s mining operations. You will play a key role with both the mine design and operational teams to ensure that geotechnical deliverables are achieved. This will include overseeing all geotechnical monitoring systems, completing geotechnical interpretations and formulating management reports. You will lead the assessment of geotechnical risk and will identify & evaluate business improvement opportunities.

Due to the impact this role has on the operations and the team, people management skills are essential as well as a high standard of written and oral communication.  You will need to bring a relevant Tertiary Qualification with extensive operational mining experience in an underground geotechnical engineering position. Your expertise will allow you to review procedures against industry best practice whilst delivering informed assessments to the operations group. Your ability to implement systematic geotechnical strategies through the adoption of the latest technology will be crucial to your success.
