Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Markham/St. Catherines

Role Summary:

Our Client is a leading global company providing consulting, design, and construction services in earth, environment, and mine waste and other related areas of energy. They are looking to add a Sr. Geotechnical Engineer to join their team and work in conjunction with Regional Manager's in both of their offices in the Markham & St. Catherines locations.

Generic Duties And Responsibilities:

• Work on projects from scoping study level to detailed design and construction
• Work as an integral team member in a multi-discipline environment
• Liaise with technical specialists including hydro-geologists, hydrologists, geochemists, rock mechanics, environmental, and other disciplines
• Provide quality leadership & mentoring of junior technical staff
• Manage contractors and sub-consultants
• Sound understanding and use of mining and geotechnical software ( ex# GE05,Minesight).

Skills Set & Qualifications:

• Proven leadership skills of technical teams
• Ability to multi-task between various strategic and technical interrelated issues
• Experience with design /construction of tailings dams and mine-site earthworks infrastructure
• Project management experience in a mining or construction related environment
• Proven experience with budgeting and cost forecasting
• Strong client management experience.
• Strong business development skills

Education

• 10+ years of civil, geotechnical or related experience obtained largely from mining projects
• Bachelor degree in geological, geotechnical, mining or civil engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree in an engineering related discipline is preferred

Accreditation

• Registration as a P. Eng In Ontario or be eligible to apply for Registration.

Communication Skills

• Ability to respond effectively to sensitive enquiries and complaints.
• Ability to understand and both read, write /converse in English proficiently
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing on a technical level
• Must have demonstrated interpersonal and customer relations skills.

Independent, Judgment, Decision Making & Problem Solving

• Ability to make decisions and solve problems using independent judgment in situations requiring the use of multiple variables in complex non-standard situations
• Operates with wide latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions requiring independent judgment having direct impact on the company.

Salary Rate : $120- 125 k/per annum
