Chief Civil/Structural Engineer

Role Summary:

Our Client is a leading provider in studies, engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services to the non-ferrous metals and iron & steel industries. They are looking to add a Chief Civil/Structural Engineer who will lead and manage a team of engineers/designers. The key responsibilities will be to overlook the delivery of completed Civil/Structural engineering designs in accordance with contracts. This includes ensuring that projects are completed within the budget and specified timelines and confirming that the completed design falls within jurisdictional codes and specifications.

Generic Duties And Responsibilities:

• Experience and knowledge of concrete foundations for heavy duty mining equipment such as crushers, SAG mills, Ball mills
• Superior communication skills, both oral and written, are definitely required
• Ability to develop innovative solutions to unique and challenging problems
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to effectively lead, direct and manage technical teams
• Ability to work to time constraints and meet tight deadlines
• Oversee the quality of engineering documentation and installation within the areas of structural steel and structural concrete supports for equipment as required by the specification laid out for projects as assigned.

Education

• 15 or more years experience in civil/structural engineering and design for equipment layouts in mining, and/or heavy industry
• Registration as a Professional Engineer is mandatory
• Previous experience in supervising or managing in an engineering environment
• Experience with North American engineering codes & practices
• MS Office skills including Word and Excel

Supervision Received

• Work is assigned in terms of broad objectives and is reviewed for compliance with scheduling, productivity and budgetary criteria. Detailed technical review is not normally required.

Supervision Exercised

• Reviews and evaluates technical work; selects schedules, and coordinates to attain project objectives. Makes decisions concerning selection, training, rating, discipline and remuneration of staff.

Other Requirements:

• This position may also require travel to international sites from time to time so individual must be able to travel freely without any restrictions as it relates to criminal records, or eligibility to enter into foreign countries

Salary Rate : $120-125 k/per annum
