Senior Metallurgist

Description:

Our Client is a one of the biggest mine companies in Canada developing the beautiful British Columbia (Center BC) and has the second largest open pit site in Canada.

SENIOR METALLURGIST

Responsibilities:

Metallurgy

  • Maintains metallurgical efficiency and quality control in crushing, grinding, flotation and SXEW
  • Ensures the accurate and timely delivery of assays to the mine and mill
  • Employs metallurgical and assay personnel and equipment to maximize department effectiveness
  • Coordinates the investigation and resolution of process problems
  • Manages the execution of department generated mill capital projects
  • Oversees the daily and month end metallurgical balances
  • Generates monthly, reports on metallurgical sections performance
  • Generates monthly reports on mill and SXEW performance
  • Knowledge in process control

Communication

  • Maintains effective information exchange with related departments
  • Keeps reporting staff informed
  • Budgeting and Cost Control
  • Provides input to mill and SXEW department budget
  • Manages spending within approved budget
  • Approves spending up to authorized limits
  • Ensures departmental compliance with accounting procedures

Qualifications:

  • Degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering with a minimum of 4 years experience in base metals recovery processes, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered professional engineer.
  • Ability to lead a group of technical employees in achieving common objectives.
  • Accomplished written, verbal and group presentation skills.
  • Experience with MS office software and functional keyboard skills.
