Our Infrastructure & Environment Division is comprised of highly qualified and experienced individuals who deliver innovative and cost effective solutions in Environmental Management, Contaminated Sites, Water Resources, Waste Management, Water & Wastewater Treatment, and Marine and Infrastructure Engineering.
The Intermediate Soil Scientist position is a full time permanent position located in our Calgary or Edmonton Infrastructure & Environment office.
We have groundwater, soils, risk assessment, reclamation and remediation internal technical groups that are open to WorleyParsons consultants with an interest in professional and technical development. The groups meet regularly and present opportunities to learn from senior scientists and engineers working in both the Environmental Management and Contaminated Sites sectors. Our Calgary and Edmonton offices have a solid client base built on a reputation for technically superior work with some of our client’s more technically challenging and involved sites.
Our Environmental Management Group seeks someone with strong leadership, communication, and business development skills.
Your Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Project management and successful execution of pre-disturbance assessments, clean soils evaluation/soil stripping projects, surface reclamation for various industries including upstream oil and gas, mining and oilsands, and environmental impact assessments;
- Project management and successful execution of soil monitoring programs, environmental site assessments and remediation programs, including the development and maintenance of project schedules and budgets and coordination of junior staff;
- Preparation and presentation to clients of technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets;
- Interpretation of environmental regulations and investigation results to successfully meet the clients requirements;
- Communication with clients through verbal and written correspondence which may include presentations;
- Business development – proposal preparation, attend client meetings, and deliver engaging presentations;
- Quality assurance – responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Contaminated Sites Group; and
- Responsible for personal safety and the safe working practices for the Contaminated Sites Group. Understand and follow WorleyParsons occupational health and safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution plus appropriate continuing education in environmental science or engineering, geology, soil science or equivalent;
- Registered Professional (e.g. P.Ag.) or eligibility for professional registration in Alberta;
- 5+ years of experience in environmental site assessment and reclamation;
- Ability to present technical information, both written and verbally, in a concise and professional manner;
- Self-starter, flexible team player, willing and able to work on a wide variety of tasks and to coordinate staff;
- Supervisory, project management and client management experience an asset; and
- Demonstrated capability to conduct and supervise field investigations, and train, mentor and develop junior staff.
