About the Job

Our Vancouver based client has a technical leadership opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer wanting to make an impact in a growing technology company. The Lead Process Design Engineer will become the key process expert, providing leadership in design, and developing the skills of process engineers. The position also offers a great opportunity to be involved in developing new environmental technologies and applying existing technologies in new areas of wastewater treatment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop an expert level of understanding of each of client's existing water treatment processes, and play a key role in developing new technologies
  • Lead and approve all process designs and the preparation of process design documentation
  • Manage process engineering systems
  • Train and mentor staff
  • Build effective relationships that result in staff viewing you as the go-to" person for their questions about client's processes
  • Be a key technical resource for client's operations, projects, laboratory and business development teams
  • Write, review and edit technical documentation including lab reports, technical papers, design reports and proposals
  • Be based in Vancouver with occasional travel to project sites

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelors or graduate degree in engineering in hydrometallurgy, mineral processing, or chemical
  • Minimum 10 years experience in detailed process plant design in the mining and/or mineral processing industries
  • Minimum 2 years as a process lead responsible for the sign-off of design work
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and develop technical teams and ability to effectively transfer knowledge to colleagues or staff
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation and communication skills
  • Can-do attitude - always finds a way to make things work
  • Experience in commissioning and/or plant operations is a strong asset
