Sr. Engineer

Position Summary

• Responsible for the design, implementation, test and customer-site startup of control, information and automation systems working in a project team environment.

Functional:

• Provides updates to project manager/leader pertaining to status of activities, performance to schedule and performance to budget for self and other less-experienced engineers.
• May participate in proposal development activities.
• Performs detailed system design, implementation and startup.

Leadership:

• May lead project teams typically employing 1-3 engineering professionals.
• Coaches and helps develop less-experienced engineers assigned to projects.
• May lead contractors on project assignments.

Interpersonal:

• May serve as the primary technical interface with the customer for assigned projects
• Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction
• Interacts with project management, hardware design, purchasing, and assembly personnel in support of project efforts.
• Obtains product technical information from other business units of RA as required.
• Supports an environment conducive to customer satisfaction.

Business:

• May lead technical execution of projects typically with a combined value of $500k.
• Builds relationships at the technical level of Rockwell customers.
• Responsible for meeting project schedule, engineering hour budgets, and customer satisfaction targets for own activities in support of the project team.
• May provide support of proposal efforts or customer presentations.
• Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies and procedures as appropriate for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge.
• Typically five to seven years of experience in systems engineering related to information or automation systems.
• Experience conducting system field startup activities.
• Typically possesses application/technical knowledge relevant to assigned business team.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
• Must have excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet customer project commitments.
• Must perform duties in the office as part of a project team.
• Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial plants, ships, etc., which may require climbing, working in confined spaces and other unusual work environments.
