Job Description           

  • [Company] business performs consulting and EPCM services for many of the world’s leading mining companies and is executing world-class projects on five continents.
  • We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Study Manager in our Reno, NV office. Reporting the local Consulting Manager, this position has overall responsibility to manage preliminary economic assessments and pre-feasibility mining studies for our Reno Geology and Mining Consulting Group, in close coordination with our offices in Denver and Mesa, as well as our worldwide centers of mining excellence. Responsibilities:

  • Managing preliminary economic assessments and pre-feasibility studies; ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and in accordance with [Company] standards.
  • Ensuring superior performance on projects through application of a “fit-for-purpose” use of [Company] study management systems.
  • Providing a high level of support and back-up to the local Consulting Manager.
  • Providing technical leadership and management for a diverse mining engineering team ranging from junior to principal level staff across multiple disciplines of geology, mining, processing, infrastructure, environment and cost estimation.
  • Actively supporting business development activities through participation in conferences, direct business development activities and strategic client relationship management.
  • Assisting in the identification and recruitment of high quality staff in order to grow and expand the technical capabilities of the study group.
  • Collaborating with other technical staff to bring added value to engineering studies.
  • Creating strategic plans and developing innovations applicable to client services.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Geology, Mining or a related field of study, combined with registration, or the ability to register, with an appropriate professional association.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mining industry, coupled with significant experience in a consulting and/or operations environment.
  • Industry recognition as an expert in the field of geology, mining or process engineering.
  • Aptitude in project organization, communication and execution.
  • Strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills in the management of technical people and advanced projects.
  • Experience in engineering studies or in an operations environment at a geology, mine or process superintendent or manager level.
  • Knowledge of industry standards in resource and reserve estimation (JORC, CIM SME) and public disclosure regulations with the ability to work as a Qualified Person.
  • Willingness to travel to both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and at times to remote locations.
