Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

  • Reports to Nitration Team Leader.  Responsible for the following:
  • Maintain and repair processes throughout the nitration plant.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the equipment for operating as designed and at full operational capability
  • Perform objective safety and quality inspections on all equipment and facilities, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Resolve daily issues with equipment without major loss of production
  • Setup of equipment for production
  • Trouble shoots repair incidents with the equipment and machines
  • Train new personnel in new or changed procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.

Major Challenges:

  • Cost reductions through increasing safety of the operations, improved quality, reducing equipment downtime, reducing waste, and procuring adequate components

Requirements:

  • Associates degree or higher in related field or relative work experience in electrical/mechanical systems.
  • 3 – 5 years Maintenance experience with an emphasis in Electronics
  • Understanding of 480v, 3 phase power systems
  • Must satisfy the requirements for a "possessor of explosives" as defined by the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Sound knowledge of NEC codes
  • Understand and apply principles of hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable controllers, boilers, electricity, chillers, fabrication, welding, and carpentry.
  • Ability to solve basic algebraic expressions.

  • Working conditions are sometimes outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
