Operations Supervisor
Scope/Overview:
- The Melting supervisor is responsible to oversee and coordinate all activities of the electric melting operation. The supervisor is responsible to manage the personnel, daily metrics, and improvements to ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery is a part of daily operations. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the union employees that support this operation along with any other assigned areas of the plant.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Supervise unionized employees providing training, leadership, and oversight to meet productivity objectives.
- Implement year over year cost savings to promote safety, quality and productivity improvements.
- Participates in the interviewing and hiring of new staff; prioritizes, assigns and reviews work, approves time off for payroll purposes, and prepares employee performance evaluations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations from an accredited university with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Intern or co-op experience a plus.
- Knowledge of JIT, CI, Six Sigma
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- 2 years Electric melt experience preferred
- Union leadership experience preferred
