Talent Acquisition Manager
- The Talent Acquisition Manager will report directly to the VP of Talent Management and will work closely with all levels of management and the HR generalists. This position will be managing the sourcing, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of talent to supply the organizations current and future needs. The TAM will serve the leadership team located in the headquarters location in Frederick, Maryland as well as the commercial centers in Chicago and Houston. This person will offer guidance and tools to the plant locations and the HR generalists that support those locations. This position will also direct the efforts of the HR Administrative Assistant for those activities related to talent acquisition. This manager will interact heavily with the HR generalists that support the various client groups within the headquarters location, including the VP of Talent Management.
Specific Responsibilities
- Establish talent acquisition processes that supply current needs and attempt to forecast future needs of [Company] – this requires a thorough understanding of management’s priorities and strong organizational skills
- Ensure that the people that participate in the Talent Acquisition process are trained and knowledgeable about the acquisition process
- Support interview teams in developing sourcing strategies, posting internal and external employment advertisements, and handling recruiting contacts
- Source candidates by utilization of recruitment best practices and variety of sourcing techniques including Social Media
- Develop recruiting materials designed to attract qualified candidates – these materials include brochures, websites, social media sites, booths for on-campus interviewing and career fairs, and marketing materials
- Continuously improve the acquisition process through technology or process improvement to drive down the time, effort, and cost needed to acquire talent
- Establish and maintain relationships with contingent and retained search firms, staffing agencies, universities, and technical schools
- Oversee pipeline recruitment programs for technical talent in the fields of Mining Engineering, Finance, and the needs of various client groups in a variety of fields including marketing, sales, customer service, supply chain, and logistics as determined by the Executive management team; this role is responsible to research and recommends universities for BS/MS, MBA, Co-op and Intern programs
- Manage the support processes for Talent Acquisition: background checks, drug screening, and pre-employment testing
- Make employment recommendations and compile employment offers, taking into account internal and market equity; track market trends in compensation to effectively advise clients and HR generalists on putting together offers; coordinate hiring related administrative process
- Manage the new hire onboarding process and drives improvement in the process
- Develop and track metrics that efficiently and effectively demonstrate the effectiveness of the acquisition process
- Build an external network of recruiting process outsourcers and free-lance recruiters that can supplement the acquisition activities as needed
- Manage other employment related functions – i.e. relocations, hiring requirements, obtaining appropriate work visas, correspondence, job documentation, background checks, team selection activities, personnel requisition process, requiring ability to deal with frequent change in priorities
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- Undergraduate degree required, MBA or Masters in Human Resources Management preferred
- SPHR certification or similar preferred
- 5 years of experience in human resources management, minimum of two years as a recruiter
Other Qualifications
- Solid knowledge and experience with staffing metrics
- Strong functional knowledge of staffing practices
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or working in a company that has a strong heavy industrial or manufacturing culture preferred
- Strong ability to analyze data and recommend effective strategies
- Demonstrated experience implementing staffing programs for all levels of the organization
- Strong business acumen
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong consultative relationships with managers and be a valued, collaborative team member in an HR organization
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees
- Ability to travel domestically as required, which could be 10% to 20%
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure professional and effective communications
