Electrical Engineer

[Company] is looking for an experienced electrical engineer with a proven track record in our industry.

Responsibilities

  • The Electrical Engineer will review and/or provide guidance and participate in the preparation of major electrical equipment specifications, and the conceptual development of the overall power distribution system for in-house projects.
  • The Electrical Engineer will perform startup and/or trouble shooting of complex power system matters.
  • The Electrical Engineer will be able to liaise directly with the client on technical issues and be able to perform normal project administrative duties relating to the electrical design (schedule, procurement, etc.).

The Electrical Engineer will also perform electrical design engineering and studies, including but not limited to the following:

  • System Calculations
  • Short Circuit
  • Load Flow
  • Harmonic
  • Arc Flash Hazard
  • Transformer Sizing
  • Protective Relay Selection
  • Protective Relay Settings
  • Coordination for systems up to 6.6kV.

Desired Experience:

  • 8+ years

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Desired Technical Knowledge:
  • Power
  • SmartPlant Electrical
  • AutoCAD and E-Plan
  • Some Control - PLC Programming
  • Required Technical Knowledge:
  • Proficient with INTools
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Proficient with Access & Excel
  • Knowledge of developing Electrical Schematics, Electrical Plans and Specifications

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work unsupervised on major bulk material handling projects - Crushers, Conveyors, Stacker Reclaimers, etc.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of major electrical equipment (i.e. large transformers, MV motors, MV & LV SWGR, VFD's etc.)
  • Able to Generate and review electrical drawings for VFD's, Intelligent MCC's (Networks), associated switches
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of latest industrial codes and standards (i.e. IEEE/ANSI, NEMA, CSA, NEC, CEC, NESC, IEC, etc.)
  • Possess a strong analytical ability, along with the ability to make technical presentations clearly and concisely
