Located in Perth, our client is an Australian based mining company with a focus on copper production and exploration. They hold mining and copper exploration activities in both the Pilbara region WA, as well as the Mount Isa Block in QLD.

Due to current expansions and restructuring, our client is currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their diverse team.

Based at their Northern QLD operation, this is a permanent FIFO position on a 8\6 roster. You will be reporting to the Mining Manager.

Your responsibilities will include;
  • Monitoring all existing stope voids, infrastructure and access ways to ensure geotechnical risk to personnel and mining operations are fully recognised and evaluated.
  • Developing adequate monitoring regimes in new production areas and, if necessary, engage and manage contractors for installation of geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Maintaining and update all relevant documentation pertaining to ground stability with particular reference paid to the Ground Control Management Plan and Geotechnical Risk Register.
  • Assisting the Design Team in the development of a regional stope extraction sequence through numerical stress modelling to optimise performance and operational integrity.
  • Ensuring data storage is maintained in a logical and efficient manner
  • Ensuring that all daily, weekly and monthly reports are produced in the required timeframe.
In order to be successful with this role, you will be required to have;
  • Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering with major in Geotechnical or Geo-mechanical Engineering.
  • Five years experience in underground metalliferous mining.
  • One year's experience in geotechnical engineering in underground metalliferous mining
  • Ability to write and deliver reports, presentations, business correspondence, reviews and other materials.
  • Flexible approach to problem solving, priority setting, and time management.
  • Ability to operate without supervision.
