Great opportunity with a leading mining operation with an exciting future. We have an opportunity for an experienced Geologist who will be responsible for strengthening the team by providing geological support in two coal mines.

Reporting to the Superintendent Geology, the Key accountabilities include:

• Support the mining operation to ensure coal quality is reliably forecast and monitored
• Manage daily geological work including logging, face mapping, coal sampling, and data management
• Develop and manage direct reports
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders
• Apply technical knowledge and skills to identify problems
• Analyse root causes of failures, delays and defects
• Facilitate and implement continuous improvement
• Continue to develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in directly relevant areas of geoscience and technology.

As the successful applicant you will demonstrate at least 5 years of relevant experience in the mining industry with extensive exposure to in-pit coal quality and geology processes. Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential and experience in Minescape or similar Mining CAD software will be highly regarded. You will display strong problem solving and decision making capability with a professional level of design and planning skills.
