Business Development Manager

Our international client is a major supplier of specialised equipment, services and systems for large scale industrial energy production and management applications.
  • To increase their presence and expand their sales in African markets, they seek to appoint a top calibre business developer for their African markets.
  • This is an interesting international career opportunity and, as an overseas member of the Export Team, the appointee will report directly to the UK whilst closely liaising with local RSA management. 
The key objectives are to:
  • Conduct/collate accurate market research investigating business growth opportunities within the major RSA multinational Groups (Johannesburg Head Offices) and the allocated African countries (South of Kenya); develop excellent sustainable business relationships with end-user customer decision makers, their technical teams and the associated suppliers; ensure the company’s success in concluding large scale high capital value sales contracts. 
  • Locally the appointee will work independently from a company equipped home office. 
  • Extensive travel to African countries will be required.
  • Applicants should hold an engineering degree (eg. electronics/electrical/process/ energy management), preferably also a commercial qualification. 
  • The ideal background would encompass multinational experience in all areas of business including technical/engineering/process and or mining operations, sales, market research, international negotiations, international payment options and general business administration. 
  • Business development involving energy generation applications would be viewed most favourably. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; ability to converse in French and/or Portuguese and Spanish is advantageous. 
  • Company induction and technical/product/systems’ training will be provided overseas and locally.
  • Although an international appointment, applicants must have legal entitlement to reside and work in South Africa, a valid passport and unendorsed driver’s licence.
