Remarkable Mining venture has an outstanding position open for an Evaluation Geologist.
The mine is one of the largest open pit operations in Southern Africa with a life of mine in excess of 20 years. The mine is looking for highly educated, motivated and dedicated individuals who would like to grow and develop with the mine. The ideal candidate should have good communication skills in a competitive environment, a strong desire to learn new skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and enjoy high stress production environments.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Standard 10 certificateBSc (Hons) Geology
- MRM degree (Mineral Resource Management) would be advantageous
- Up to 3 years operational Geological experience (Exploration and Underground)
- Computer Literacy (Knowledge of Ms Office Suite, Geological database and modeling software packages)
- Advanced level of computer literacy (Microsoft Suite, Sable, Micro station, Data mine)
- Valid drivers license
- Up to 2 years (5 years total) Operation / Supervisory Database / QAQC / Resource / Evaluation (Geostatistical) / 3D Geological modeling experience would be advantageous
- Up to 2 years Operation / Supervisory Resource-Reserve Reviews / Audits experience would be advantageous
- Knowledge of sample collection analysis (physical samples, remote data and historic reports), sampling theory and QAQC practice
- Ability to work with multiple models and have multiple hypotheses running.
- Knowledge of mining and exploration processes
- Knowledge of general geology
- Knowledge of geophysics and geochemistry (advantageous)
- Resource Evaluation (advantageous)
- Knowledge of exploration techniques and technology
- Understanding of deposit/ ore types
Monitor Planned Task Observations (PTO’s), Risk Assessments (RA’s), and Non-conformance reports (NCR’s).
Mineral Resource Management:
Assist with and Provide input into the evaluation and resource management strategies.
Apply resource modeling methodologies (ore body modeling techniques, classification techniques and risk assessment) and compilation of models to recognized best practice.
Assist with internal Datamine, SABLE and MRM database audits.
Perform Short term resource evaluations for projects and operations
- QAQC Management:
QAQC Management
Assist with QAQC of inputs and data from a variety of sources
Coordinate and ensure QAQC during the sampling process
Assist with QA/QC reports on all geological and geochemical results.
Database Management and Geological Information Systems:
Assist with updating, monitoring of all geological databases
Assist with QC (Quality control) and QA (Quality assurance) of the geological database (Sable) in compliance to Standards and recognized resource reserve codes (SAMREC, JORC, NI 43-101)
Best practice advise and -Technical reporting:
Improve, develop and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Code of practice (COP’s) and Policy in line with Best Practice principles.
Compile monthly/quarterly/annual technical reports to management.
Reporting:
Report data from logging, mapping, sampling, databases and QAQC on daily, weekly and monthly basis
