Mechanic 1 (Wastewater)

Description and Desired Qualifications

  • Our Wastewater jobs provide you with an opportunity to perform general maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, structures, and grounds; and analyze equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences. Each day, you will be a vital part of our operations contract and take responsibility for the safety and success of this project.

Our Wastewater Operator:

  • Performs general maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, structures, and grounds; and analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions
  • Replaces packing in pumps or valves
  • Replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment
  • Checks and aligns equipment
  • Cleans out pipes and performs other plumbing and pipe-fitting tasks as required
  • Performs duties of a painter as required
  • Installs and sets up new equipment
  • Tear down and rebuild equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems
  • Assists in keeping maintenance records
  • Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
  • Follows written and oral instructions
  • Ability to carry and respond to pages as assigned by management
  • Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as assigned, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver’s license – State of New Mexico
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the maintenance of pumps, motros and large mechanical installations
  • NM Level III certification in Wastewater /Wastewater or ABC Mechanics Cert III

Degree Required

  • High School or GED

Certifications Required

  • Driver's License
