Senior Field Service Engineer
Job Description
- [Company] Corporation - Hydraulics Group has an opening for a Senior Field Service Engineer. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to act as primary customer contact by providing direct customer field service support including troubleshooting, repair, failure analysis, and replacement of all [Company] products as used in customer applications. The Field Service Engineer will also provide technical assistance to our global field sales team, distributors, and customers regarding the proper selection, application and installation of [Company] products. This position is also responsible for supporting the Warranty, Technical Support, and Training Services Departments as required.
- This position will be based from a home office. No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the geographic area of a major airport in the United States will be considered. This position will require travel to various domestic and potentially international locations for extended periods (50% travel expected).
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Field service on all [Company] hydraulic products and systems including application analysis, troubleshooting, repair, and failure analysis and product replacement.
- Provide support for divisional and plant warranty departments in evaluating and processing returned customer product. Specifically, onsite product evaluation and warranty recommendations based on product application, typically at the customer site. Conduct Warranty and Service Center audits as required.
- Similarly, provide field support services for customers in post or non-warranty situations on a customer purchase order.
- Provide feedback on product quality and concerns to Engineering, QC, Sales, Field Service, Technical Support, and Marketing based on key warranty information
- Provide input into warranty and product quality metrics
- Coordinate field campaigns with customers and distributors as required by the warranty function. This includes completing replacement of product as well as arranging and supervising outside services that may assist in these tasks.
- Conduct reviews of product for warranty determination at customer sites.
- Provide customers with product training on all [Company] products, with awareness and understanding of customer equipment.
- Provide product operation and application information for use by the Technical Support function for all [Company] products.
- Act as back up for Technical support function when not at customer locations
- Make recommendations to customers and facilitate sales of new [Company] service and/or replacement products.
- Establish and manage a cross-functional team to resolve complex field service issues.
- Manage large, complex field programs such as retrofits and start-ups, coordinating activities of all resources involved while managing and meeting customer expectations.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
- 2 year Associates degree in Engineering, Technology or Fluid Power from an accredited university required
- Minimum 5 years of Sales, Engineering, Service and/or Test Lab experience required.
- Experience in PLC Programming with Industrial Control Systems and/or hydraulic systems including open center, closed center and load sensing designs required
- Basic Program Management skills required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
- Only candidates that currently reside within the geographic area of a major airport in the United States will be considered
Position Criteria:
- Ability to interact with all departments within [Company] Hydraulics to meet customers’ needs in both a proactive and reactive way.
- Must be comfortable in discussions with all customers under difficult circumstances, possess good written and oral communication skills, and maintain a positive attitude at all times.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS) accreditation a plus
- Experience with hydraulic systems strongly preferred
- Broad range of computer skills with Microsoft and data acquisition applications.
- Experience with CAN-Bus and other relevant communication protocols with electro hydraulic valves and systems a plus
