Manager, Environmental Affairs

Manager, Environment Affairs will be responsible for the development and implementation of environmental sound practices in exploration activities, in line with international recognized standards (E3M, ISO 14 001, etc) and Cliffs Sustainable Development framework (part of OneCliffs approach).

This position will mainly work with the Global Exploration Group (GEG)with travel to the exploration sites.

Specific Responsibilities (in priority order):
  • Obtain environmental permits for exploration activities.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of sound environmental practices based on recognized standards (development / revision / update of operational/control/emergency procedure, awareness and training programs, records, internal inspections program, etc)
  • Work in close collaboration with GEG
  • Clearly communicate responsibilities/impacts and risks to responsible persons and provide guidance to GEG group in improving Environmental Performance
  • Collaborate/communicate with other departments
  • Other related duties in line with evolving activities/requirements
Education Needed:
B.S in Engineering, Earth Science, Chemistry or equivalent. Advanced degree a plus.

Experience Needed:
  • Minimum 5 years environmental management and field experience in natural resource or industrial operations.
  • Strong experience with environmental management standards/systems
  • High comfort level understanding and applying laws and regulations related to exploration activities in foreign countries
