Our client is a world-class foundry and metals fabricator. They are a leading supplier of high quality alloy-steel casting and assemblies for many industries including: Direct Reduced Iron Industrial Furnace, Pulp and Paper, Petrochemical, Aluminum, Nuclear, Cement, Mining, and Steel.
POSITION: Supervisor, Metallurgical Laboratory (Permanent, Full Time)
PRODUCT/INDUSTRY:Manufacture
LOCATION:Near Barrie, Ontario
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, this position is responsible for overseeing the operations and Technicians of the Metallurgical Laboratory. He/She will direct the Laboratory Technicians in all sampling, testing and measurement duties and ensure adherence to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines. He/She will be reasonable for effective troubleshooting and mentorship of subordinate technician. The Supervisor, Metallurgical Laboratory will be responsible for all recorded data and make regular reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Principle duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manager, coordinate, and direct lab activities to meet high production demands for testing, certification, and approval to release product for shipping
- Monitor daily activities of mechanical / metallurgical / chemical testing laboratory
- Fully responsible for accuracy of lab results, training and staffing, safe work environment and practice, development of department procedures, compliance with technical and customer standards
- Ensuring that the laboratory operation meets statutory requirements, as well as company policies regarding safety and environmental standards
- Ensuring safe operation of the laboratory and associated equipment and infrastructure
- Maintaining quality control and ensure that accurate record and report data from all analyses and test ins produced in the prescribed timeframe
- Scheduling, planning and implementing daily priorities
- Maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing equipment
Compensation:
- $50,000 - 60,000 per year
