Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer - Lead Advisor

Our client is a global consulting firm renowned for providing unparalleled technical solutions to many of world’s largest mining companies and exploration firms.

Specialties include: Mining and Project Evaluation, Geology, Resources and Exploration, Water Management, Geotechnical, Tailings, Heap Leach, Mine Waste and Environmental.

Due to the growth and continued success of their Mining Operations Division an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer for their Vancouver, BC division. If you are a senior level rock mechanic with extensive experience working on diverse mining projects and managing client relationships then we would like to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, engineering and consulting rock mechanical expertise on major surface and underground mining projects.
  • Take projects from conceptual studies to the detailed design and construction stage, liaising with other technical specialists as required.
  • Perform 2D-3D numerical models
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers
  • Lead and develop key project teams
  • Prepare technical reports and proposals

Job Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree in Geological, Civil, Geotechnical or Mining Engineering
  • Valid Professional Engineering License
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience; open pit/underground operating mine experience is highly desirable
  • Practical experience in mining ground control, preferably with exposure to several mining methods
  • Proficiency in 2D-3D numerical modeling
  • Ability to train and mentor junior engineering staff
  • Willingness to travel, both nationally and internationally, this candidate should be willing be able to adapt to challenging conditions
  • Strong ability to write well organized reports
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relation ships
