Thermal In Situ Oil Sands
Utilizing both cyclic steam stimulation (CSS) and steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD), our current thermal production capacity is approximately 120,000 barrels of bitumen per day. In addition to the existing operations, Canadian Natural has vast land holdings of oil sands rights in the Athabasca Oil Sands area. Our thermal in situ oil sands plan is to add ~40,000 bbl/d of additional bitumen capacity in a phased project execution strategy every 2 - 3 years as we strive for a target of approximately 450,000 barrels of bitumen per day.
**This is a Contract/Temp Position**
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Project Control Lead will be responsible for scheduling, planning, progress tracking and cost reporting of all activities relating to the KCP Facility, Pads, Pipelines, miscellaneous lease sites, lease roads, access and miscellaneous earthwork construction as instructed by the Project Controls Manager.
The role will require daily interface and data gathering and progress measuring with all Kirby Contractors, as well as detailed interface with the Engineer on cost and schedule of the project.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Work with Engineers to control costs and schedules
• Understand project scope and commercial conditions and deal with contractual issues to minimize project risks
• Ensure the timely implementation of project specific procedures for estimating, planning, cost control and change management in accordance with relevant company procedures, systems and practices
• Coordinate the efforts of planning, cost control and estimating, incorporate and monitor project trends, provide (Project Evaluation and Review Technique) risk analysis and reporting to the Construction Manager
• Set up and ensure effective monthly / weekly project status reports are issued in accordance with the project procedure and thermal departmental practice
• Ensure the effective performance of all project contracts; conduct progress and cost review meetings with contractors
• Adhere to all government environmental laws
• Observe site safety practices and perpetuate a positive safety environment to CNRL and project expectations
• Assist in the tendering and selection of service providers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 10+ years of related industry experience with an Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology Diploma
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Working in a supervisory or leadership role in Project Controls
o Industry specific applications (ie. Primavera P3ec, Prism) and in the MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
