Aggregate Plant Operator

Job Description

• Performs work in accordance with the day to day operation of an aggregate mine.  Performs various maintenance and clean-up of stationary equipment used in the production of aggregate materials used in construction. The plant operator uses a computerized system or manual controls to remotely start, stop and monitor equipment that processes rock, sand and crushed rock.  Operator is responsible for the flow of material and operation of equipment.  May also use/operate mobile equipment such as a skid-steer, dozer, loader or haul truck.

Required Skills

• Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Perform duties necessary to operate and maintain a material handling conveyor system.  Employee will control the quality of the product by visually inspecting the material being conveyed and making necessary screen changes.  Additionally, the conveyor system will be continuously inspected to ensure that it is free of oversized and foreign material such as large rocks, wood, broken asphalt and concrete, and any other materials cause damage to the processing plant.  May be required to shovel and sweep spilled material from the conveyor system areas, and other areas around the yard.  May operate skid-steer or skip-loader for cleanup purposes. 
• May use high pressure water for cleaning.
