Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in social sciences/human resource or equivalent
  • An advanced degree or professional certification preferred 
  • At least 10 years progressive human resources generalist experience with more than five years at senior management level within the mining environment.
  • Proven experience in managing a Human Resource team. Experience must include hands-on responsibility for the full scope of human resources activities, both operations and analytical
  • Working in a unionised environment and strong employee relations, representation at dispute resolution cases and CCMA l

Job Specification

  • Human Capital
  • Develop and implement the HR strategy in line with the business plan. Ensure HR plans support the needs of the business but are also flexible enough to cope with changes in the organization.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the HR strategy including recruitment & selection, organisational integration, management reporting and statutory compliance.
  • Provide information and reports on data such as labour, staff turnover, contractors, training hours per person, etc.
  • Developing and implementing plans which will improve the organisations talent pipeline.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and legally compliant.
  • Maintain a succession plan for all departments.
  • Ensure payroll is completed accurately and to deadline.
  • Community Development
  • Manage and coordinate Social & Labour Plan efforts including the identification, planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting thereof.
  • Promote and support sustainable development by building local partnerships and community organisations as to ensure implementation of the SLP.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective operational aspects of the Community Development Team whereby working with the local communities to build community capacity and seek local solutions to identified issues.
  • To development the Skills Development Plan, whilst monitoring its implementation and reporting by ensuring that the objectives of the SLP are fulfilled.
  • To identify, plan, implement, monitor, report and project manage the suitable Sustainable Community Projects in consultation with the Integrated Developments Plans of the specific area, including the relevant stakeholders, i.e. Community, Municipality, etc.
  • Establishment the Future Forum as required by the Social and Labour Plan including the monitoring of its performance and reporting thereafter.
  • Ensure the Social and Labour Plan and Mining Charter Reporting are conducted annually, with the relevant reports submitted to the Department of Mineral Resources.
  • Implement and monitor the Internship and Bursary Plan process in order to ensure that HDSAs from the Mining Communities are incorporated in the programme.
  • Oversee all SLP project implementation and community stakeholder engagement.
  • Attend partnership and other strategic municipality meetings as the company representative.
  • Ensure regular liaison with Development Trust, Municipalities and all other key stakeholders in order to facilitate the delivery of strategic plans and programmes.
