Solution Engineer - Facilities Management & Sciences

Overview:

  • Apply your GIS knowledge and communication skills in a new way on our Presales and Solution Engineering Team to support our sales staff focused on the federal health and sciences communities. An energetic, driven GIS professional is needed to think outside the box and help promote Esri solutions to federal agencies primarily focused in the Washington, D.C. area.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with account managers, software developers, and US Federal Government clients and contractors to analyze problems, define requirements, and customize GIS tools and applications
  • Develop technical demos, prototypes, and presentations for clients; provide support at key health and science industry related trade shows
  • Present a variety of GIS technical demonstrations to executives, management, and various technical staff within a diverse range of customer organizations
  • Participate in trade shows, user groups, product demonstrations, and major software release rollouts and sales campaigns throughout the region
  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support in the development and implementation of GIS applications based on Esri products

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Experience using GIS software to include the ArcGIS system
  • Knowledge or experience with current health and science related issues and policies such as public health, disease control, alternative energy, resource mapping, site selection, and facility management
  • Knowledge of CAD, BIM, and IFC data and experience with data interoperability between GIS and CAD/BIM for facility management
  • Understanding of data types and formats used in the health, science, and facility management communities
  • Knowledge of cartographic principles, image processing, and remote sensing
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, PostgreSQL, or other related RDBMS
  • Ability to work independently where rapid prototyping and quick turnaround are required
  • Ability to troubleshoot client issues
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
  • US citizenship and ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Domain expertise related to health, sciences, and facilities management
  • Familiarity with cloud, web, and mobile GIS initiatives
  • Experience supporting federal civilian, sciences, health, or facility management related projects and/or initiatives
  • Experience with LIDAR, imagery, field data collection, CAD, 3D, OGC, and other data formats, specifications, and products used in health, science, and facility management activities
  • Experience with mobile devices to include Windows, Android, and iOS based devices
  • Working knowledge of  Python, Java, JavaScript, Flex, WPF, Silverlight, C++, .NET, Qt, or related programming and development environments
