Machine Operator - Concrete Block

Job Description

• Safely and efficiently operate fixed and/or mobile equipment in the production of concrete and concrete block building materials.  Inspect, service, and clean equipment.

Required Skills

• Operate concrete block casting machine
• Select and adjust mix designs as directed
• Perform adjustments and preventive maintenance on plant equipment
• Rebuild mold boxes and other wear items
• Maintain functionality of safety devices and controls
• Ensure accurate counting and reporting of site inventory
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
• Ensure equipment is safely and mechanically sound and maintains cleanliness to Company standards
• Perform plant inspections and document plant condition at beginning and end of shift
• Clean all plant machinery daily
• Ensure equipment is safely and mechanically sound and maintain cleanliness to Company standards
• Complies with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
• Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor

Other Job Duties:

• Operate various types of mobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts and front-end loaders
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspection; document and report equipment condition at beginning and end of shift
• Use equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, feed conveyors, hoppers or chutes and load trucks or railcars
• Check all vehicle fluid levels daily and add fluids if necessary
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
• Ensure equipment is safely and mechanically sound and maintain cleanliness/housekeeping to Company standards

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred 
• Experience: One (1) year experience in the operation of mobile and fixed equipment used in the production of concrete and concrete block products preferred.  Ability to become forklift certified and learn to operate a front end loader required.  Previous experience in the operation of front end loaders and forklifts strongly preferred.
• License: Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required
• Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to mobile and fixed equipment and the operation of such. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English including reading and writing.
