Field Technician- Drilling Fluids & Hardware

Westcoast Drilling Supplies (www.westcoastdrilling.com) is the Minerals Exploration business unit operating under the parent company, DiCorp, a privately held Canadian owned company. Westcoast Drilling Supplies (WDS) is one of North America's largest suppliers of drilling fluids, equipment and accessories. Through an integrated network of sales and warehouse distribution centres, we provide over 300 various products to the exploration drilling, mining and geotechnical industries. We have an immediate opening for a Field Technician – Drilling Fluids & Hardware.

This full-time position based out of Surrey, BC, will be responsible for performing all necessary field service as it applies to the company’s drilling fluids product lines to accomplish Westcoast Drilling Supplies’ strategic performance objectives in the assigned region. The successful candidate will have a proven ability for developing and maintaining excellent client relationships by delivering value and meeting client expectations.

We are looking for an individual with 5+ years of Technical Drilling Fluids field experience preferably in Mineral Exploration.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular sales contact with existing customers and develop new accounts in the Mineral Exploration markets.
  • Client calls to Non Mineral Exploration markets such as water well, environmental and mining will be required as directed by marketing initiatives.
  • Client calls to include field operations, drill site visits, purchasing and service departments of clients.
  • Develop and maintain custom fluid systems according to customer and site specifications.
  • Determine new or replacement products for this market. Assist in gathering information for product sources, performance, prices, technical information and other supply requirements.
  • Create and distribute timely and factual call reports on client and market information.
  • With assistance from branch manager develop packaging, pricing, sales strategies and distribution channels for all products in the market.
  • Provide technical support to employees and clients as required.
  • Develop and present Mud Schools for clients and employees as required.
  • Participation in industry trade shows to demonstrate product quality and network with prospective clients.
  • Ensure that activities are conducted according to DiCorp’s ISO 9001 Quality System and Personnel policy.

Qualifications:

  • Chemistry and/or formal polymer mud school training considered an asset. Post-Secondary education is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of Technical Drilling Fluids Field experience preferably in Mineral Exploration small bore diamond core drilling.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills required
  • Familiar with TDG and WHMIS regulations
  • Ability and willingness to work within a strong team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc…)
  • Valid passport and Class 5 Driver’s license required
