Contracts Engineer

• Contracts Engineer urgently required.

The Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• 5 Years experience as a legally appointed engineer
• Maintenance of management systems and controls
• Proven track record in leadership of engineering aspects of mining projects
• Good interpersonal relationship skills
• Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines

Minimum Requirements

• A Government Certificate of Competence for Mines (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
• BSc Engineering / National Higher Diploma

Job Specification

Job Summary 

• Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Contracts Engineer, based at our Clients Head Office. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable to ensure that the following are in place and cost effective to meet the business need:
• Documentation: Plant and equipment installation, operating and maintenance specifications
• Site Engineering standards of practice for key indicator performance tracking such as Mean Time between failure, availability, cost per metre, etc
• Recommendations on strategic spares holding
• Technical integrity of tender submissions in terms of accurate GCE and Capex estimates
• Oversee procurement from a technical perspective, looking at capability, standardisation on components
• Leadership in technical skills training – upskilling of “engineering” maintenances crews
• Auditing of site practices and challenge of status quo
• Technical advice regarding equipment selection and cost saving in operations
• Advice on “engineering” staffing and skills levels
• Champion of innovation
