Shaft Rock Engineer

Our client seeks to appoint a Shaft Rock Engineer who will be responsible for providing the shaft with specialist rock engineering services. The incumbent will ensure that the underground mining excavations are developed and maintained under safe working conditions. Your responsibilities will include compiling and maintaining a mandatory Code of Practice to combat rockbursts and rockfalls, conducting and documenting accident/incident investigations and making the necessary representation to the DMR. Effective rock engineering services, including the management of 1-3 subordinates and the implementation/administration of necessary systems, will be required to support the shaft's performance.

  • A COM Rock Mechanics Certificate for Metalliferous Mines and at least 5 years' experience in mining, rock engineering or strata control are required. 
  • You should have a demonstrated ability to meet the technical and responsibility requirements of this legal appointment as well as to perform in a brownfields, greenfields or JVs operational environment. 
  • A certificate of fitness will be essential. (Ref. B/RockEng/03)
