Description
- Prepares Civil Sitework, Heavy Civil, and Structural cost estimates for proposals, projects and studies and ensures that the content of the estimate is complete, accurate and meets the requirements of the design documents and the Estimating Team Practices. Helps in the maintenance of the Company estimating database. Coordinates and reviews the variable estimating factors in each area with Engineering, Procurement and Construction. Provides technical advice and assistance to the Estimating Manager in the preparation of estimates at all levels of design, scope, and complexity. Assists the Estimating Manager with an independent assessment of an estimate’s accuracy (upon completion of the estimate and summarization of all detailed man-hours, material, construction and home office costs).
- Must be capable of preparing estimates for Construction Management At Risk (CMAR), Construction Management Services (CMS), Design-Build or Hard-Dollar projects. Able to develop scopes of work and estimates for designs with less than 25% design completion.
- Obtains and verifies construction quotations for facilitation of projects, addenda’s and contract changes. Reviews and incorporates responses to subcontractor questions for construction projects and ensures compliance with construction documents. Assist Lead Estimator in developing the Basis of Estimate.
- Assist Project Managers in developing constructability reviews and value engineering. Could be called on to utilize experience and knowledge to plan and assist in pursuits of new work within all [Company] division groups across the United States and internationally.
- Compile and analyze bids. Must be able to understand and help develop Work Breakdown Structure Codes, Cost and Resource Loading. Develop reports for all review processes.
- Must have skills conducive to organization, attention to detail, ability to work within tight time constraints and under pressure; and ability to work within a proposal team.
Qualifications
- 8 to 20 years estimating experience is required
- Field experience is required
- Cost control and scheduling exposure is a plus
- Solid knowledge or experience in Dams, Hydro-Electric Projects, Canals, Marine Work, Concrete Structures of various types such as plant-works, basins, buildings
- Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant experience a plus
- Natural Gas, Oil or Petroleum experience a plus
Technical:
- Must be proficient in using MS Word, and Excel
- Estimating Database Knowledge
- Sage Timberline Estimating Extended knowledge a plus
