Piping Engineering Hub Practice Lead

The successful candidate will be an experienced Engineering professional able to confidently participate in my clients global network to deliver robust and innovative Project solutions.

Main Function:
  • Provide leadership for staff in the piping practice area for the Braynston office.
  • Accountable for the successful delivery of practice participation in all projects.
Reports to:
  • The Engineering Director and the Practice Director for Piping.
Key responsibilities:
  • Participate in Safety initiatives 
  • Responsible for Quality of Engineering Delivery within the practice
  • Recruit and induct staff, including promotions and the transfer of staff from and to other offices
  • Manage staff to achieve business targets 
  • Assign staff to work and contribute to workforce planning initiatives 
  • Define competency standards in association with the Practice Lead and ensure performance assessment, training and development for staff
  • Ensure provision and application of workplace, systems support and procedures 
  • Provide technical direction and guidance as consultant and technical sponsor
  • Work together with other Project Delivery Practices as a cohesive team
  • Develop and implement Practice initiatives in conjunction with other hub practice leads, directed by the Practice Lead for Piping Engineering
  • Actively participate in the review of Piping projects
  • Integrate clients current Design Methods into office practice operations
Essential requirements:
  • A team player that differentiates him/herself as a leader through good, effective communication and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Strong technical orientation towards design workflow, procedure and standards.
  • Strong systems orientation and working knowledge towards the implementation and
  • application of Computer Aided Design systems in a piping engineering environment.
Minimum qualification and experience:
  • B.Sc Eng (Mechanical) or equivalent.
  • Min 10 years experience in piping engineering in the fields of process plants, mining environments and the energy sector, preferably with some lead piping engineer experience on at least one capital project.
  • Pr. Eng or equivalent approved accredited registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
