Maintenance Foreman

Large Coal Mining Corporation has position available for a (AA) Maintenance Foreman. Only South African citizens, who are suitably qualified, live in the applicable area and meet the requirements of the position are eligible to apply for this vacancy.

This Mining Corporation requires a qualified fitter with experience in installing, maintaining and repairing mining equipment. Duties would include staff management and the installation of new components and must also be able to implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs. The incumbent must have the ability to plan and organize tasks independently and must have experience of the OHS act.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or N3 Fitting qualification 
  • Must have a valid drivers license 
  • Qualified Trade Tested Fitter 
  • Semi-skilled Boilermaker 
  • Must have a Red Ticket (medically fit for work) 
  • 6 years relevant post Trade Test experience with a minimum of 2 years in supervisory position 
  • Must have coal wash plant background 
  • Ability to read technical specifications 
  • Develop and maintain maintenance management systems 
  • Effective Manage the Maintenance Team to ensure downtime on equipment is kept to a minimum 
  • Mechanical fault diagnosis, testing and repairs on conveyor belts and pumps installations within underground sections 
  • Must be familiar with and able to work on conveyor drive units, building of conveyor belts for forward move extensions and commissioning of the belt and all relevant safety devices 
  • Must understand and be able to sort out faults and problems by using appropriate manuals 
  • Must be able to carry out maintenance and repairs on underground coal mining equipment
  • Must be experienced and confident in Conveyor jointing and inserting of sections 
  • Willing to work continuous operation shifts and overtime as and when required 
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment with precision 
  • Good problem solving skills 
  • Must be a mature self-motivated and well-disciplined individual 
  • Must be a team player and work well with peers and Supervisors 
  • Stress tolerance 
  • Promote high safety standards 
  • Good vision, hearing, and sense of smell to diagnose problems. 
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures 
  • Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures 
  • The candidate must reside in the Witbank, Bronkhorstspruit or surrounding area.
