Advisor Environmental

Objective

• Responsible for administration and maintenance of the Environmental regulations for [Company] State and Federal.  Provides functional and technical expertise to the employees of the company. Performs audits and maintains database of trainings and audits.  Responds to inquires/audits from the state and federal agencies. 

Job Description:

• Provides guidance to management team on environmental issues and compliance regulations. Audits plants for compliance with governmental regulations and Aggregate Industries Environmental Management System (EMS)
• Ensures accuracy of system data. Prepares accurate reporting as required by environmental regulatory requirements.
• Will participate in inspections from government agencies and respond to the findings.
• Promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards. Understands and communicates environmental regulatory requirements information to encourage compliance.
• Responsible for the maintenance of Environmental Management System (EMS)
• Recommends systems changes, policy/procedure changes and/or major variations from established policy.
• Trains and coaches users on the use of the EMS software.  Develops training modules to ensure data and reporting accuracy.  Trains and assists department leaders to maintain environmental data collection and risk minimization activities.  Recommends, coordinates and reviews associate educational and work practice programs on environmental and safety topics.
• Responsible for conducting audits, evaluations and compliance with regulatory and industry standards.  Provides support to facilities to achieve and maintain certification to the ISO 14001 standard.  Performs audits of facilities for compliance with regulations, company policies and corporate procedures and makes recommendations to Operations Management.  Participates in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) inspections and conducts internal environmental compliance audits.
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state and customer environmental and safety regulations and requirements including accurate recordkeeping and preparation of internal and external reports.  Prepares information on environmental performance for internal and external stakeholders.  Compiles and analyzes environmental data collected by contractors or site departments and determines compliance and data trends.  Collects, analyzes and prepare environmental regulatory compliance reports including the State Environmental Resource Center (SERC), Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization (SARA), Title V (of the Clean Air Act), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), , National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. Prepare annual reports as required by local, state and federal as required by law.
• Prepares applications for operating permits including mining permits, air permits, storm water management permits, wetlands permits, land use and any other Federal, state or local permits required.  Responsible for tracking permit dates and assuring timely application.

Additional Experience

• Experience with database design and implementation as well as web-based applications.
• Strong knowledge/familiarity with the environmental regulatory requirements and governing bodies including EPA, SERC, SARA, Title V, SPCC, and NPDES.
• Strong organizational skills/attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects/priorities.
• Strong customer focus and sense of urgency to business needs.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience in conducting training to large audiences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including experience presenting technical information, explaining concepts and providing instructions and coaching in a user-friendly manner.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and aptitude to learn company environmental tracking software.
