Manager Rail Operations

Overview:

Effective management of the Rail Operations department in the coal industry

Job Specification:

• Achieve profitable targets through planning and budgeting
• Satisfy customer needs by maintaining high service levels
• Interact with external railway consultants and other rail supervisors
• Conduct regular inspections and oversee quality of work
• Identify problems or risk areas in the Rail Department and schedule corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with, and implementation of all statutory, legal, health and safety policies and procedures
• Lead employee involvement in HSE improvements and hazard reporting
• Ensure timely incident reporting and quality of incident management and actions to eliminate recurrence

Management of employees:

• Recruitment, Performance, Training and Development, Industrial Relations, Motivation and Relationships
• Ensure all data on management information systems and control systems is accurate

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering or Business Management or related degree
• Operational experience in the bulk materials handling sector in Mining processing, maintenance, Rail Industry, Port operations, or marine experience
• High level of technical expertise across a range of railway operating and technical disciplines
• Experience in leading safety improvement, including high level incident investigations
• System design and implementation
• People management skills, previous experience in leading large, diverse teams
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with a multitude of people from different backgrounds
• Portuguese language skills advantageous
