Managing Director Designate: Opencast Mining

R 1,200,000 -1,500,000 Per Annum CTC

Our client is a division of a major listed group. They have a very exciting current opportunity for an opencast mining specialist with strong business acumen to be groomed into their MD position.

• The person should be able to manage and direct a multiple projects in a contracting opencast mining environment
• Relevant tertiary qualification in mining or civil engineering coupled with post graduate qualifications (MBA, EDP etc)
• A Mine Managers certificate of Competency will be beneficial.
• At least eighteen years experience in opencast mining of which twelve in a managerial position
• At least  five years previous experience at Board level
• In depth understanding of the mining industry and specifically opencast mining
• In depth understanding of the contracting business including estimating and tendering
• Experience in/understanding of the management of drilling and blasting in an opencast environment
• High level of mobility
• Preferably in possession of an opencast blasting ticket
• Superior client liaison/negotiating skills
• Superior strategic management ability
• High level of emotional intelligence
• Ability to manage under a high pressure environment
• High level of assertiveness
• Results driven
