Diesel Mechanic

Large Opencast Coal Mine has a fantastic position available for a Diesel Mechanic. Only South African citizens, who are suitably qualified, live in the applicable area and meet the requirements of the position are eligible to apply for this vacancy

This successful Mining Corporation dealing in all types of mining requires qualified diesel mechanics to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty mining equipment used in all the aspects opencast mining.

Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 certificate
• Must have relevant Petrol/ Diesel/ Motor Mechanic trade qualification
• Must be medically fit
• Minimum of 3 years opencast mining experience
• Valid drivers license
• Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
• Ability to read technical specifications
• Possessing complete and clear understanding of earthmoving equipment
• Knowledge of safe working procedures
• Ability to operate power tools and equipment with precision
• Oral communications skills
• Have the capacity to handle several tasks simultaneously
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work independently or as part of a team
• Good health, physical fitness, stamina and manual dexterity
• Good vision, hearing, and sense of smell to diagnose problems.
• Good observation skills
