Value Stream Manager
Responsibilities
- Manage Group Leaders to use of visual tools and applying data and facts to understanding and managing the business. Performance Boards, Production Boards, V/S Metrics
- Administrate Union Contract, including review and resolution of grievances
- Responsible for (SQCDI SAFETY, QUALITY, COSTS, DELIVERY and INVENTORY of products produced within the Values Streams
- Manage a cross functional organization (Matrix Organization), including Planners, Group leaders, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, & Quality
- Utilize, drive, and promote understanding of Visual Factory and Lean Manufacturing (OPX) principles to ensure delivery of business objectives and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Uses GEMBA as a tool for sustainment
- Develop flow using Pull Systems between operations and utilize customer Takt rate through the entire value stream from plate processing to paint
- Involves shop floor employees and actively engage in problem solving PIT Teams (Productivity Improvement) and Kaizen events
- Develop and maintain Metrics Glidepath and uses a structured Root Cause/Countermeasure approach to meet or beat established goal
- Manage within a Matrix organization and provide leadership to V/S team (Manufacturing Engineering, Group Leaders, Quality, Planning, and hourly work force)
- Drive an interactive and collaborative team environment internal to the value stream as well as across functional groups. Partner across functional lines and promote teamwork
- Manages to union labor agreement and pragmatically address issues fairly
- Intense focus on proactive actions and drive a “sense of urgency” among the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, plus minimum of at least four to five years of related manufacturing experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, knowledge of current DOT and ARR regulations. Past supervisory experience a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Accounting software, Inventory software, Payroll systems, Internet software, Human Resources systems, Order processing systems, Project Management software, and Manufacturing software.
