Planner/Estimator

Job Description

  • Generates estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules. Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans, budgets and schedules. Reports to the project manager. Most work will be done under firm, fixed priced prime contract with firm fixed priced subcontracts and procurements.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited 4-year degree/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business or related field.
  • Eight (8) years of work-related experience within the related field.

  • Expert computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
  • Strong discretion and independence.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • High critical thinking/reasoning ability.
