Senior Specialist, Material Management

Job Description

• Under Direct Supervision (including using independent judgment within established guidelines) by Material Management of Fluor or its subsidiaries (indicated as “the Company”), the purpose of this position is to perform the essential job duties and functions listed below with the overall objective of delivering value through world-class procurement and material management systems, capabilities, and processes by leveraging advanced sourcing methods; global market knowledge and Fluor’s  global purchasing volume to obtain the best pricing, quality and service for our clients

Primary Job Duties/Functions:

• Performs the accurate, timely, and cost-effective identification, sourcing, buying, delivering, warehousing, installation, and commissioning of material and equipment required to support the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) effort
• Develops negotiation strategies, as appropriate
• Develops material requirements including specifications and scopes (working with Material Engineering and Material Control)
• Interfaces with Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS) and Logistics as necessary on assigned Requests for Quotation (RFQ) or Purchase Order (PO) packages
• Prepares and issues expediting status reports
• Procures engineered equipment and materials in accordance with the Material Management Plan..
• Evaluates, selects, and routes material shipments in accordance with procedures.
• Provides direct and general supervision, as instructed, to material management personnel performing basic purchasing activities and other administrative and fundamental procurement assignments within established Material Management Plans, policies, and procedures.
• Meets Company expectations for attendance
• Other related duties/functions as assigned

Working Conditions:

• On-site project workspace of various conditions which may include temporary office facilities and exposure to moving, mechanical parts and vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and various levels of outside weather, and/or
• Generally favorable indoor office workspace

Basic Job Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent education with 8-10 years of related material management experience

or

• Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management, or Engineering with 6-8 years of related material management experience
• Previous Fluor experience preferred.

Other Job Requirements

• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
