Horizon Oil Sands
Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth. Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil. We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d. Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending for 2012 forecasted at approximately $1.55 billion with future projected spending of approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.
The Construction Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of all site contractors performing mechanical equipment installation work associated with extraction. As a Construction Coordinator at Canadian Natural you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, implementing your expertise to coordinate across the company and create efficiency. Your role will involve supervision of multiple contractors to ensure completion of work within time and budget; and you will gain exposure to working with senior engineers and construction managers on complex, high-value projects. There is ample opportunity for both lateral and vertical career progression and the development of new skills.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Contribute to the preparation of the work scopes for requests for proposals
• Participate in bid reviews and area constructability reviews
• Review contractor construction execution plans, mechanical work scopes, schedules and manpower loading
• Review contractor quality control programs and inspection and test plans
• Coordinate Contractors permit acquisition and compliance
• Assist with interface coordination between other business unit Area Coordinators and Site Contractors
• Oversee contractor safety compliance
• Monitor and coordinate contractor work completion schedules
• Monitor construction compliance to Canadian Natural’s site specific and OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) procedures
• Verify construction progress and scope changes to the Construction Manager, Project Manager and Project Controls
• Audit contractor punch-list items for system turnovers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 10+ years of related industry experience with Grade 12 or GED
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Working as a Mechanical Construction Supervisor or in Project Management
o Construction of Extraction facilities (Primary Separation Cells, Pump Boxes, Cyclones, Floatation cells)
o Working with project values exceeding $500 million
o Supporting work teams that has been gained through hands-on experience
o Installation of heavy mechanical equipment related to the Extraction Process
o Ensuring quality while maintaining schedule, cost and safety milestones
o preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment
o pre-commissioning of mechanical equipment
