Shift Manager Blast Furnace Electrical Maintenance

Job Description

United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager Blast Furnace Electrical Maintenance at our Great Lakes Works facility in Ecorse, MI.

• Leads and ensures safety and environmental activities and compliance. Apply electrical engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve electrical conditions to maximize operating efficiencies. Utilize management skills to supervise, direct, and coordinate the efforts of experienced technicians, craftsmen and project planners to repair and maintain electrical equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimal interruption. Use technical knowledge and maintenance history of electrical equipment to develop and implement preventative maintenance program.
• Perform administrative activities such as scheduling crews, completing production reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility.
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Associates degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a maintenance supervisor or electrical engineer working in a steelmaking/manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Experience with controls, instrumentation, and PLC level 1 required
• Prior experience directing and supervising a unionized workforce or similar military leadership experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills are critical.
• Good keyboard and computer skills.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts and weekends.
