Senior Surface Mining Engineer/Project Manager

Job Duties:

This position will report to the Vice President of Surface Mining and will have a wide variety of responsibilities including:

• Developing business with new and existing clients
• Contributing to and managing a wide variety of multi-disciplinary projects related to the energy and mining industries from diligence and feasibility studies to operational onsite assistance
• Writing technical reports
• Providing consulting expertise to Norwest’s global client list which includes a variety of legal, financial, investor and industry clients.

Education Required:

• Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering degree.

Experience Required:

• Minimum of 15 years post university experience in the mining industry with an emphasis on surface coal mining.

Special Requirements:

• Specific mining industry experience in technical and/or management roles, with an emphasis on surface mining.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Thorough working knowledge of common and mining-specific computer applications.
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
• Candidates who demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking to problem solution and adaptability to multiple mining settings and methodologies will be given priority consideration.
• Candidates with coal or industrial minerals industry experience and/or foreign language skills will be given priority consideration.

Location of Employment: Salt Lake City, Utah or Charleston, WV. Successful candidate will be willing to work in remote field locations (inside and outside the United States) for extended periods.
