Our client a well-funded junior exploration company with a current portfolio of projects in coking coal, copper, gold, iron ore and related infrastructure throughout Asia.  They are currently seeking a qualified all-round senior level exploration geologist with emerging market experience to take up a post as President and Head of Geology and report into the Chief Geologist based in Hong Kong.  This person will be the most senior person in country and will need to build a team of both expats and nationals.

Additionally, duties will involve overseeing ongoing exploration projects from grass roots level to feasibility stages, as well identifying and evaluating gold projects offered to the company. 

The company is well financed and currently positioned to take advantage of strong gold prices and this post offers an excellent career opportunity with attractive terms and conditions of employment. 
 
Role description 
  • Lead Exploration for my clients JV in Burma
  • Build and manage a team of 5 people
  • Design and implement a strategy to screen projects in Burma’s minerals sector with a focus on copper, gold, nickel, lead, zinc and tungsten, coal and iron ore (and to include other commodities on a case by case basis determined by asset size and quality) including identifying a regional ranking and focus
  • This will involve studying country data and extensive field trips 
  • The role will require working alongside a PE team to structure investments into targeted projects and prospects.
  • Targets will include the pegging of new land, existing exploration prospects and existing projects both developing and producing
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Mining sector experience (min 10 years)
  • Experience as a Technical consultant is preferable
  • Base metals or iron ore / coal specialist
  • Experience in an Emerging Market
  • Excellent Spoken and Written English
  • Previous expat experience highly regarded
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible in approach
