Accounts Payable Clerk

SMS Equipment Inc. supplies equipment parts and service to the construction, forestry and mining industries and utility product users. It was created to provide customers with integrated solutions and to expand our service capabilities as a nationwide organization.

Accounts Payable Clerk

Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounts Payable, this position works closely with other members of the accounts payable team, accounting and branch staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Processing of invoices, including data entry of high volume payables, verifying general ledger account coding, and checking and coding expense reports
• Reconciling vendor statements
• Responding to inquiries from vendors, accounting staff and branch clerks

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of 1-2 years office experience. Post secondary education in accounting or experience in Accounts Payable is considered an asset. Additional qualifications include, but are not limited to:

• Thorough and accurate data entry skills
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to understand complex business systems and AP processes
• Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
