Assistant Quarry Manager

Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, travel requirements)

• Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. Supervises, coordinates, and monitors site activities; oversees the maintenance of equipment and performs related duties to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant. Troubleshoots production problems and takes preventive or corrective action. Recommends changes to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Suggests products for account to order, and facilitates problems to be corrected
• Attends operational meetings and participates in strategic planning for the enterprise
• Supports and assists personnel in achieving timely and efficient production schedules; provides opportunities for training on routine prevention maintenance activities. Investigates abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine cause; makes adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications as needed.
• Performs inspections on completed jobs; ensures conformance with policies and procedures, safety codes and local, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and ordinances. Analyzes operational data and reconfigures operating area(s) as necessary to provide adequate, economical service. Plans, schedules, and monitors all work being performed. Oversees the overall safety of any personnel working at or visiting site. Ensures proper documentation of operations activities in logs and/or incident reports.
• Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors and customers serviced.

Educational Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Manufacturing preferred or comparable experience and/or training.

Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred

• 3 years of experience in the management of construction materials specifically aggregates industry
• Industry experience in excess of the minimum requirements may be considered as an offset to educational requirements
• Must have intermediate computer skills
