Growing National Infrastructure Company is seeking a Health Safety and Environment Advisor to join their team in the Eastern suburbs for a 3 month contract role. Utilise your extensive HS&E skills within this diverse and complex organisation working within the Safety & Culture team.

Your major responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialist HSE advice and support to the Corporate areas of the business in relation to the Safety and Wellbeing of employees operating in these areas
  • Interfacing with the Corporate areas to provide specialist HSE Management Systems and audit support
  • Supporting the development and implementation of policy, systems and guidelines, which define and reflect Jemena's HSE expectations.

Other issues will be:

  • Overseeing HSE management to ensure robustness and transparency in identifying accountability and responsibility for the quality and timeliness of activities, and providing an assurance to the Corporate areas management teams that relevant regulatory and stakeholder obligations continue to be satisfied
  • Facilitating and encouraging the identification, implementation and communication of HSE initiatives
  • Providing high quality HSE advice, support and guidance to managers to assist them in meeting their respective responsibilities under relevant industry and HSE legislation
  • Assisting with the implementation of the Jemena and associated businesses Corporate HSE management systems, associated audits and certification standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environment or Science with significant experience in managing HSE issues within industry or government OR equivalent industry or trade experience
  • Experience in developing, implementing and auditing of HSE Management Systems
  • Good working knowledge of HSE assessment principles and approval processes
  • Significant success and experience in building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and industry networks
  • Experience in successfully mentoring and leading people
  • Working knowledge of Federal,Queensland,New South Wales, Victorian and Tasmanian HSE legislation
  • Understanding, or ability and commitment to quickly understand, the key HSE issues associated with the energy sector
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation, consultation, influencing and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel frequently to intrastate and interstate field operations
  • Valid drivers' licence
  • Computer literate and competent in use of the MS suite of software.
